He made his family his world in it."

Richard "Rick" McKechnie, 63, recently of Woodland, WA, passed away on July 19, 2013 with his family by his side. He was born Aug. 24, 1949 to Richard "Dick" and Helen McKechnie in Vancouver, WA where he attended Evergreen High School until entering the Army in 1966. Rick served in Vietnam until his discharge in 1969.
March 17, 1973, he married the love of his life, Nannette "Nan" Lumos, lovingly raising their family together. 
Rick is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Nan (or Nanny as he called her); daughters, Brenda Smith (Raymond Jr.) and Jennifer Shaw; grandchildren, (twins) Brandy and Brittney Smith, Shayla, Samantha, and Bobby Shaw; mother, Helen McKechnie; brothers, Jim McKechnie (Margo) and Bob McKechnie (Kathy); sister-in-law, Jean Cramer; brother-in-law, Ray Lumos (Terri); as well as numerous nieces and nephews and friends.
He was preceded in death by his son, Steven McKechnie in 1971; daughter, Brandy McKechnie in 1978; father, Dick McKechnie in 2012; and other loved ones as well.
A military graveside service will be held Thurs., Aug 1st, 2013 at 1:30 p.m. at Park Hill Cemetery, next to his father, Dick McKechnie.
